Tucker Topel (he/they) is a scenic designer, director, and queer artist originally from Janesville, Wisconsin. He is currently an MFA Scenic Design candidate at the University of Connecticut and holds a BFA in Scenic Design from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Tucker spent the last decade working in Pittsburgh, where he designed, built, and painted over 100 productions. Now based in Connecticut, he continues to travel for freelance work and collaborates with companies across the country. He frequently works with Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, Mercyhurst University, PICT, FUSION Theatre Company, and Titusville Playhouse.

As an artist, Tucker loves exploring how space can shape a story and connect with an audience. Collaboration is at the heart of his work, as is a desire to uplift underrepresented voices and find deeper connections to the stories he tells. He is interested in how performers and space work together to create a world, using movement, composition, and environment to shape the experience of a piece.

He takes pride in creating cohesive theatrical worlds where every element works in harmony or intentional contrast, shaping experiences that challenge perspectives and invite audiences to engage with stories in new and unexpected ways.
