Kelly Strayhorn Theater (KST) is honoring our namesakes, 20th century entertainment legends, Billy Strayhorn and Gene Kelly at our 15th annual benefit concert Suite Life, Saturday, November 26, 2022!

Building on John Shannon’s 2021 reinvention of Suite Life, Kelly Strayhorn Theater invites you to experience the music of composer Billy Strayhorn and the imagery of performer Gene Kelly. Under the stage direction of Monteze Freeland (Co-Artistic Director of City Theatre) and musical direction of Akron-based Theron Brown, vocalists Anita Levels (a Pittsburgh favorite) with Kelsey Robinson and Treasure Treasure (Dance & vocals), James Johnson III (Drums), Jordan McBride (Bass), Reggie Watkins (Trombone), and John Shannon (Guitar) himself will have the audience swooning through an unmissable evening. With media design by artist Scott Andrew and lighting design by Jonathan Bucci Productions, Suite Life 2022 promises to carry the East End tradition with sizzling atmosphere.

TQ Live! presents a queer evening of dazzling performance, dance, poetry, comedy, resplendent fantasies, music, and more. This eighth installment of the annual performance series features artists and performers from the many LGBTQIA+ communities in the Pittsburgh region. Hosted by Joseph Hall, this year’s lineup includes performances by Yves (NYC), MICHIYAYA Dance, Corrine Jasmin, Soft Boy, Juiced up Joey, Flamming Creatures, Victoria L Van-Cartier, Manny Dibiachi, and Mara Bailey of “THE EXCLUSIVE HOUSE of MAKAVELI SHAKUR” (from HBO’s Legendary) with guest performer Jahmara ‘Tinky’ Younger, along with visuals by VJ ASS TROLL, and a dance party featuring HUNY. TQ Live! 2022 is produced by Scott Andrew, Joseph Hall, Suzie Silver, and sarah huny young, and is co-presented by Carnegie Museum of Art.

House Party shakes the foundation of KST’s legacy fundraiser, Full Bloom, by injecting the sheen of a high art soirée à la The Met Gala meets the theatrics of Studio 54. The Instagram worthy VIP reception is hosted by performance artists and takes place in an immersive art installation filling the theater with a seductive glow, with a lobby video installation by featured video artist Scott Andrew. The dance party promises to revive the spirit of KST’s signature summer celebration while supporting a season of diverse arts offerings in East Liberty. Be sure to bring your looks!

I shot and edited an interactive video for Gesture of Devotion from the album Twenty Twenty by Congregation of Drones, in addition to creating some of their promotional videos and photos for the album.  It’s live now on Every Possible Recording Twitch channel.

The video was co-directed by Scott Andrew and Jesse Stiles with choreography by Jesse Factor, featuring dancers Aloria Adams and Theodore Bliss. In the Twitch chat window you can enter a variety of commands that control the flow of time resulting in endlessly mutating harmonic, metric, and choreographic structures.

Following KST’s encore presentation of Lyam B. Gabel’s the dance floor, the hospital room, and the kitchen table for the occasion of the national Theater Communications Group conference, Pittsburgh’s annual queer performance celebration TQ Live! takes over the KST lobby to close out the evening with a satellite event! Organized by Scott Andrew there will be sizzling performances from SUPA’ NxC, Remy Black, and Jesse Factor while the burgh’s favorite DJ HUNY spins the beats. Also check out huny’s photo exhibition PEACHES on view in the KST Lobby throughout the evening.
